i tried something really different !!!!!!!

Post by marsos52 »

i few days back my neighbor dropped over and handed me a tube or cream. and asked it i wanted it

he explained he ordered it and the tube has a hole in it. the vendor sent him a new one.

its a tube of omega crema da barba

first i said no, then i said all right i'll try it.

as most know by now, i am pretty locked into soaps and use two MWF and trumpers

first i loved the 50's old school look of the tube and paint work etc etc
looks like its old...

the scent is not overbearing and has a methol thing going on (its eucalyptus)

it lathers so easy (i tried it from thick to a just before loose)
both laters provided a very slick and smooth base for the blade to guide across

and, both lathers offer very little cushion or protection

my shave went well, with not a lot of cushion you can really feel the blade of your face

i used my futur with a merkur set to 3. i ended up with a smooth smooth shave that was as close as any body could ask for

i used the cream today with the same feeling and bbs smooth again

so im not a cream fan , im not a methol fan, i like lathers that offer protection and cushion

but i like this stuff. i would not recommend for the new guy because it doesnt have protection and you really feel the blade on your face

its fun trying new things and i will use it till there is no more. hey it was free!! cant wait to shave with with favs again

Isn't this stuff just rebranded Proraso.

Squire, I seem to recall reading that Omega is Proraso with a little extra lanolin.

Wish they would make one without the scents, the basic formula is good.

I agree. I'd like to at least try it as many seem to feel it's quite good, but I never have because of those ingrediants. I must be about the only guy on SMF who has never used Proraso ( chuckle ).

Not unless they get around to offering a version without that stuff in it. Otherwise, it'll never happen, Squire.

hey if you guys want ,,,,,,,,,i can sent you samples from my tube...
or even better i will send the whole tube and just pass it around

i dont know anything about the cream
has every thing i rather not have in a product......but its good ,, heavier scented then trumpers but not bad.. methol which isnt my fav......
its a cream not a soap haha,,,,,,,and doesnt offer cushion protection

it lathers real well and leaves my skin feeling good after the shave
and provides a slick shaving surface

so let me know

Nope. I haven't, either. Just not a fan of the whole menthol/eucalyptus thing. Otherwise, definitely worth a try.

I didnt use proraso exactly for the same reason either! I just dont want to rub that in my face when I look at the list of ingredients.

I did use proraso red one time though.

Wonder if the Omega cream is much like the red Proraso? I also don't like the menthol/eucalyptus in regular Proraso, but I have several tubes of the red Proraso left. I really like it and maybe the Omega would be a good replacement.

I'm one who enjoys Proraso during the summer and while most of the Creighton creams irritate my skin, the Proraso with all of its menthol and eucalyptus doesn't cause me any problems. Weird I know.

I have never used it nor Musgo. I want to try the M.R. at some point. Just three years back ,or so, I would see several tubes of the Proraso Reg. & Red 'wheat germ' in my local Target store. For whatever reason never purchased one, and now, just try to find a tube of the 'Red'! Instead, I mail ordered mucho crema from points S and E on the compass....strange behavior this little hobby. Someday I'll make it to outskirts of Winnemucca just for 'kicks'.

The Omega shave soap works great for me. I'm not a huge menthol fan but it hits the spot every now and then...
