Cleaning a suede strop
Cleaning a suede strop
My Kanayama suede strop picked up a water stain. I was thinking of cleaning it with saddle soap but that means more water and I don’t want to just make it a bigger stain. Anybody fixed a similar problem?

Re: Cleaning a suede strop
I think water and saddle soap will alter the characteristics of the strop in terms of its draw. Were it mine, I'd accept the tiny stain as one more sign that the strop is being used, along with the tiny nicks.

That’s a good point - sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. I really do not want to change the draw on this strop. It’s like velvet. I couldn’t get used to it a first but I’ve used it so long now that canvas feels like 60 grit.
