At least with cigars you know where you are;
Totalmente a Mano is quite different to Hencho a Mano.
Perhaps a 'standard' could be;
Totally hand made - lathe turned handle, hand-knotted.
Hand made - either of the above two processes carried out by machine.
Finished by hand - just the glueing carried out by hand.
definition of "handmade"

We won't ever see that, there is way to much money to be lost in the shave world, hence the current standards we have now.joe mcclaine wrote:At least with cigars you know where you are;

Hi, my name is Aaron and I'm the poster boy for Omega.
What level of skill is required to place a ready made knot in a ready made handle that has the correct dimensions for the knot to fit into and then to glue it together.
I want to get a knot from Golden nib, and a wood turner to make a handle with the correct hole size. Would it be easy for me to glue it in and seal the wood? It would certainly be a hand made, Made in England, brush.

Seems to me you are conflating Fritz Lang's Metropolis with Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times. Both involve machines that outpace the workers serving them. Two masterpieces.KAV wrote:There are no robot machines as in the automobile industry being served by exausted workers as in Fritz Lange's Modern Times-yet.

In this instance, the bristles seem to come in a plug, the handle is turned by machine with little human intervention, but from then on, the polishing, gluing and branding would all qualify as hand work in my opinion.
As far as a hand tied knot, I would like to see a quantity of hair being gathered, pushed into a shaped mould, the bottom of the hairs trimmed, the bristle hand tied with string, before being removed from the mould and the base of the bristles "set" in some form of adhesive cement to qualify as a completely hand made knot .
