A little story to share with you all
A little story to share with you all
This weekend, The Lady and I hit the road with one of her friends to visit said friend's fiance in the Chicago area. The drive was uneventful (in a good way), and we arrived in good order on Friday night. Saturday was spent in the city; come dinner time, each couple went their own way for our respective meals.
After dinner, we made our way to Burnham Harbor and met back up with our friends where the sailboat I had chartered was waiting for us. We set out for Lake Michigan and took in the night skyline; the lake was calm, and the five of us (two couples plus the captain) had a wonderful evening bobbing about the water. We cruised off the shore and spent some time up around Navy Pier; at about 10.15, the captain brought us to a relative stop and I received the go-ahead to climb out on the main deck area. The Lady soon joined me.
Not too long after we both situated ourselves at the bow, I took a knee and asked my best friend if she would spend the rest of her life with me. I was blessed to hear "Yes," and we spent the next few minutes in giddy bliss while the Navy Pier fireworks went off in the background. We popped the cork on the Veuve Clicquot and moseyed back to the harbor warmed by champagne and much bonhomie, my new fiance still in shock.
Indeed, gentlemen, I am one blessed man. My shave this morning was much better knowing the woman I will spend the rest of my life with was getting ready in the next room

Thanks for all the kind wishes, friends - I really appreciate your congratulations! We are planning on the big day being sometime next August and looking forward to celebrating with family and friends. For the time being, though, we are thoroughly enjoying the feeling of being newly betrothed and are extremely grateful for all the support and enthusiasm given by the people in our lives.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Regards,
Mike
