Thanks all for the comments! Seeing as though this was my first shave by someone other than myself I didn't quite know what to expect besides what the barber told me. I'll definitely be more clear upfront the next time. Gordon - You bring up a good point. Given the choice I'd take a not so close sha...

My T&H Vegas Shave - Was I expecting too much??
I've always wanted a straight razor shave, I love T&H products, and I was in Vegas recently. Soooo, why not get a shave at T&H?! For those wondering, it's the located in the Kim Vo Salon in The Mirage. The shaving area is off to the right behind two double doors as you walk in the main entra...

Do you tip a tailor?
I took a pair of my pants to the tailor last week to be hemmed. This was the first time I've taken anything to the tailor before. Is it customary to tip a tailor? The job took a week, so it wasn't a rush or anything like that. The procedure was also fairly simple. I didn't tip her, but should I have?

I figured it was too close a shave, but since they were nick and irritation free I guess I didn't want to believe that the itching was caused by a perfect shave  I use a Merkur Progress on setting 2 with Merkur blades. After my shave I usually tone and apply an aftershave balm (both Baxter pro...

Itching a day after a close shave.
Whenever I get a nice smooth shave it seems as though I always experience some itching on my neck a day later as the hair grows back in. It's not a reaction to the soap/cream or brush, and it's not because of any irritation due to a too aggressive shave. The closer the shave, the more itching I usua...

Wow, thanks for all the great suggestions! I'll check out the stores/brands mentioned. As for price, considering I only wear a suit 2-3x a year I don't want to spend a ton of money, under $70 would be good. I guess the upside is, since I wear a suit so infrequently I can get away with only 1 shirt ;)

Dress shirts for the tall and skinny?
Does anyone know of a store or brand that sells dress shirts that fit the tall and skinny? I usually wear a 16 or 17, 34/35 shirt. I'm 6'3, 200lbs with a 40" chest. My current shirts do the job but I'm tired of having nice fitting suit pants with a shirt that's big and puffy. I've got Nordstrom...

Another vote for T-Mobile. I've been with them for 5 years. As someone else said, you get a lot for your money with TMO. Data plans are pretty reasonably priced to. I have a Verizon phone for work and hate it. It was my first experience with Verizon. I would get dropped calls all the time when I had...

I almost always get nicks and cuts on the first shave with a new blade. Don't know what it is but it never fails. The only other time I really do some carnage to my neck/face is when my water/cream ratio is off. If you're sure that your lather was good, try giving the blade a second chance as it wil...

Styptic is the prefered method for cuts....Alum is more for spot bleeders. I do rub the block directly on my face. To each his own. I have used the liquid as well as the stick types of Styptic. The liquid works a little faster IMO. It also leaves no residue. The stick leaves a heavy residue. Did yo...

I just finished my sample that I picked up at TBS. Shaves were excellent, on par with the three T's. Search some old threads and you'll find more information about the cream itself, but supposedly it is an English made cream. Anyways, I chose not to buy a whole tub because I wasn't too fond of the s...
