Didn't even know MSN had a forum for wet shavers...
Man I don't have time for all of these forums...
Anyway, WELCOME TO THIS ONE...
I hope you come often and stay long...
And as always...
Enjoy your shave...

Yet SMF is a direct descendant of the MSN forum, which was originally owned by Charles (well, You Know Who ........He Who Can Not Be Named) and then resurrected in two forms after Charlie decided it wasn't conforming to his own weltanschauung. One form was owned by Ray Dupont (blessed be his name) of classicshaving.com. Unfortunately, commercial considerations came into it even for the sainted Ray, and thus SMF was born. The rest, as they say, is history.Racso_MS wrote:Didn't even know MSN had a forum for wet shavers...

Well, the featherjector gives a very good shave indeed, but clipping Feather straight blades down, and hand fitting them into old Schick magazines can be a tad dicey, and, basically it was just more trouble then I wanted to go through ( especially since the very fine US made Schick Injector blades were still readily available at that time ). But it does work well, if you don't mind the hassle, and your skin can stand up to the Feather blade, day in and day out. And yes, as Chris said, SMF came directly out of the MSN Wetshavers forum, which was excellent back then, but is rather.....a.....subdued these days.

My first shave with a featherjector
I used a schick adjustable at a setting of 5
helg the razor between the second knuckle of my index finger and my thumb
3 passes-WTG,ACTG,ATG.
I can get a smilar shave with a DE
Maybe the blade got blunted during cutting and reinserting into the cartridge
Next time I will open the razor by inserting the cartridge key into the razor and insert the blade from the opposite side
BTW I got 2 small cuts.

fn, Well, I was more or less the first member on the earlier shave forums to really beat the drum for Schick Injectors. Corey of shaveblog, and numerous other gents eventually checked them out. The main thing with injectors is that there's almost no 'learning curve'; they are very easy to use well. The rigid blade is also sometimes a help to those with certain types of beard, and/or with sensitive ingrown prone skin. They are also very compact and excellent for precise work and tight spaces. It's not so much that anyone claimed they shaved 'better' then a good DE; but they shave as well, and they're a piece of cake to learn with, and to use. The 'featherjector' thing was cooked up by Andy; an inveterate shavegeek and tinkerer. He was familiar with the Feather straights, and just couldn't help wondering if those blades might be just the thing for an injector. And so, the 'featherjector' was born. But even Andy ( and Corey ) later admitted, after more time with them, that; 1) the Feather blades got a little tough on the skin after awhile, just like they tend to do in their straights if used daily, and, 2) really the shave with the old US made Schick blades was just about as close/good anyway.

I found SMF by chance and I'm a real happy camper. I "visit" two other sites I find interesting, but this is my dominate domicile as time is very limited and it does take time to peruse the threads and make comments as one sees a need...drmoss_ca wrote:Yet SMF is a direct descendant of the MSN forum, which was originally owned by Charles (well, You Know Who ........He Who Can Not Be Named) and then resurrected in two forms after Charlie decided it wasn't conforming to his own weltanschauung. The other two sites have some very good and interesting members and the conversations almost mirror this one but one has a habit of migrating to the site one feels most comfortable. So I mainly "hang around here" and I hope I've made a difference in someones wet shaving life...
After all, they say that with age comes wisdom... (Although that is debatable at times)

Until a couple of weeks ago that i find a stack of old Schick blades i been using for months Feather Pro Guard Blades without any problem but i think the others Feather blades are more aggressive in the skin anyway in the coming days im gonna to shave with Schick twin blades thanks to our own Chris Fisher i will report later.Regards,Eddie
Not having any good old US made Schick blades around, I have found that the Feather Pro blades give me a much better shave than the CVS or the Ted Pella blades. (Although Ted's are a little better than the CVS.)bernards66 wrote:...But even Andy ( and Corey ) later admitted, after more time with them, that; 1) the Feather blades got a little tough on the skin after awhile, just like they tend to do in their straights if used daily, and, 2) really the shave with the old US made Schick blades was just about as close/good anyway.

However, I wouldn't want to use it for every shave, anyway, I've got too many other razors I like as well. However, I find that about 1/3 of the time I use it for the final ATG/buffing pass. (The other 2/3 of the time I use a 37G slant for the finishing.) The nice part is they seem to last so much longer than the other injector blades. (I tend to go through blades pretty fast.)
I stack up 5 Feather blades with an old Schick blade on top to mark the length, clamp in a vise, and use a Dremel cut-off wheel. Chamfer that sharp corner off, too. Then load them up in an empty white plastic type injector box, no problem at all.

I load a feather blade in an old bakelite handeld Schick Injector and then cut off the portion extra blade off with wire cutters. I also make sure to angle cut the cutting edge so that it tucks away safely behind the corner protector. it works for me, but I think the Dremel would be cleaner and faster for sure.
