That is a nice looking razor, I'd take one in chrome for a price tag under $75 if for no other reason than I like my Feather Portable and I like the stand.
Sometimes quality fit and finnish reach out and say to the world "This is an expensive son of a gun and my owner is really cool for owning it" and sometimes - and I think in this case - it would need a sign on it saying "This thing cost 300 bucks!"

What the heck - lets just keep mixin' stuff together till it blows up or smells REALLY bad!!
In feudal Japan swords were tested on condemned prisoners. The best swords allegedly could cut 3 in half with one stroke.
For $300 that better be a one pass razor.

Platinum is a VERY hard metal which is one of the attractions in jewelry making.
The downside is it eventualy tarnishes a pewter french grey and to restore the luster it must be microSHAVED.
Mantic's video on white vinegar won't help you here.

Platinum isn't very hard. It's a 4, 4.5 on the Mohs scale (meaning you can scratch it with an ordinary knife). It's used in jewelry for the same reasons that gold (which is also soft) is used: it's scarce and pretty.

That's incorrect. Like gold, platinum does not tarnish. Show me a piece of tarnished platinum and I'll show you a jeweler who needs a beating.

I have to agree with all of you about the price. But, I'm very happy that a double edge razor is still considered a worthy purchase somewhere in the world. Albeit expensive.

Oscar, I agree, and I can also appreciate the workmanship and expensive materials that apparently went into the making of this razor. If Araner's information is correct, I can see how it might wind up costing that much. Too rich for my blood though.
