I have the CM Almond. Works fine for me. Maybe your technique is off.
With all due respect, the phrase "works fine" means an infinite number of different things to an infinite number of guys. If there are others among us who get equally outstanding lathers from C-M as they do from Valobra, AoS, Tabac, MWF, Harris, etc., then perhaps they'll step up and say so, and maybe even post some photos, maybe even videos, of the lather. I doubt that Jeff's technique is poor.

A couple years ago I bought and used C-M Greenbriar Shave Soap. It lathered OK for me and the shave was smooth and clean and after rinsing and drying with towel I thought to myself that this was darn good shave soap. A few minutes after that I was sitting at the kitchen table and my face started feeling very hot and when I looked in the mirror my face was extremely red. A week later I used the Greenbriar Shave Soap again and got the same red hot face results. Well, that was enough for me; I chucked the soap in the trash and that was that for me and C-M shave soaps.

Okay, someone has to own up to buying some of this stuff.

It has been on the shelves at both Merz and T&H here in Chicago for as long as I remember and seems to move along at retail as well as the other stuff.
Good shaving,

They sell it and have been for the last 7 years at a local apothecary in Bon Air, VA. Don't know who's been buying it but I've see product turnover.

I do like their lip balm though.

Gary, Obviously 'someone' IS buying this stuff, just no one here. We know better.

I guess it's natural that a few people will like it. Even the worst products have a few followers. What I can't understand is why C-M doesn't care about the rest of the shaving world who actually care about quality over a name. It's clear that most people that are willing to talk about it agree that it is one of the worst lathering products available.

I get much better lather and shaves from a bar of Neutrogena face soap. I have even used plain old Ivory, but with sub par results and I suppose there are some who love Ivory as a shave soap. In fact, if you are the kind of person who likes C-M you could probably save a few bucks and use Ivory.
Relax...Take it easy...Enjoy the lather
