GZD Berber stick

Post by malocchio »

Goodbye arko ! This new Turkish stick has more industrial 1950's Tide laundry detergent aroma , more glide, more lasting power,a better container and a better ,smoother shave.I dumped the white, very soft log into a porcelain shave bowl, and beat it up with a 30mm Thater..Within 3 minutes I had a rich, thick snow white lather that had nice stiff egg white "peaks"..I removed the log and gave the lather a few rpm's with the Thater, that produced even better "peaks"...there was enough lather left in the Thater after the shave to do 2 more full shaves. This lather does not separate,it holds nicely....The shimmering red box is lined with a thick ,clear, slick plastic liner, except for the very bottom.A little film strip of plastic is in the box to lay across the bottom, but a little waxed paper should work better.I let my stick dry 10 minutes ,then put in back in the red box.We will see how long the box holds up....A really nice shave, can't wait to try the Derby stick !

Malocchio, I can't believe I missed this post a few days ago. The GZD looks interesting. I understand it may become available sometime soon in a variety of fragrances. I'm going to start paying close attention to the Shopping forum in case there are any announcements.

Picked this up from ShaveaBuck.com a few days ago. Joe supplied a small plastic wide mouth bowl which I used to mash the stick up and push it into the shape of the bowl, rather than utilize it as a shave stick. Love the description of it smelling like industrial tide. (to me a great soapy old time scent). What a great performer. Yes, this soap would be great in a lemon scent. I think it would be great in any scent. Still love Arko too. But GZD is a great addition to the den.

derby battle

Post by malocchio »

I have tried the DERBY stick, and it is a little better than Arko, but falls short compared to GZD. The Derby has a little top note of citrus over the laundry powder scent,it's lather is a little thicker and longer lasting than the Arko stick, but still the GZD has them both beat...haven't tried the Tweex, but if anyone has extra,I have 1 or 2 sticks of Derby to trade for the Tweex....it will be tough to beat the GZD,those sticks are very creamy and moist...

We have three other scents in transit. we asked for Lemon but were told they can only supply their current formulas. These three scents, one being Dragon are unknown to us till we sample them.

I received my stick of GZD today from Shave A Buck. I agree with Ron (Malocchio) this is a very good soap. I didn't shave, I just test-lathered it. The soap is creamy and soft, and the lather comes quick and is very plentiful. Thick, rich, abundant lather. The fragrance is a mild soapy scent. Not overpowering. This is a good soap. GDZ has definitely raised the bar for budget soaps. I'm looking forward to being able to use it for a full shave, so I can find out how well it performs. I think I'm going to be pleasantly surprised.
