Today I learned something about the way the puck fits in the glass bowl that goes with it. The configuration of the lower part of the bowl creates cavities underneath the soap puck. Those cavities hold water. I slipped a dull knife down along the sides of the puck and the trapped water poured out when I held it on its side. I don't really appreciate this, but it's not possible to press the puck with enough pressure to make the soap mold itself completely into the bottom of the bowl. For now, I think I'll keep the gaps open around the puck, and after each lathering I'll lean the bowl with soap at an angle facing down so the water will drain away and air can come in and dry the lower area of the soap puck.

I have moved the Tabac soap to a plain and simple clear plastic empty tub that previously contained P&B Star Noir shaving soap before it was all used up. The design of the original Tabac bowl is unusual and really doesn't work very well. With the new bowl there'll be no accumulation of water in the hidden cavities beneath the soap puck. That is not workable. It causes the soap that meets the water to turn to mush that never goes away.
