good sipping whiskey?

Talking of rye, it is hard here to find 100% rye whisky. We have one brand found in most places, Alberta Premium. It isn't as smooth as the blends using other grains, but it's worth a try if you wonder what pure rye tastes like. Pity about Crown Royal, which used to be regarded as Canada's best, but with production moving to the US...

I can’t tolerate many Scotch whiskies, even though I am Scottish, but rye whiskey is just fine. My favourite rye is Canadian Club 100% Rye, which the LCBO carries. I don’t know if it’s available in Nova Scotia. As concerns Crown Royal, I thought they are only moving one of their Ontario bottling plants to the USA, and that the whiskey will continue to be produced in Gimli, Manitoba and bottled in Quebec.
