Dcosmetics 30mm. G7, Peking Opera synthetic brush?

Post by Steve »

Has anyone tried the Dcosmetics 30mm, G7, Peking Opera synthetic brush? I just bought one and find that it has good backbone and feels like a two banded, silver tip, badger having brush. Shaving soaps lather up quickly and provides a comfortable shave. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568042 ... pt=glo2usa

Thanks for the information, Steve.
That's a thick knot! However, because of the different splay characteristics of synthetic fiber, I do tend to prefer a slightly thicker knot to my normal preference in natural fibers (22mm), such as badger and boar.

My general experience with synthetic has been that if you give it much of a shake, it releases ALL of the water held in the loft. Have you experienced that with this brush or with other synthetics?

Murray, this is my first synthetic brush. For the last 21 years, I have used a Simpson Chubby 3, Super Badger brush daily. It is a two banded brush and I love it!. I decided to try a synthetic brush and wanted it to be similar to my Chubby. This synthetic brush I bought fits the bill. Yes, it does hold a lot of water and I shake it 7 or 8 times before I soap it up. Doing this does not release all of the water but releases enough to get a nice thick lather.

Thanks for the reply, Steve.

My own experience with synthetic brushes has been that they have their own unique performance characteristics, one of which is the immediate release of water held in the knot. I have used synthetic brushes successfully, keeping these characteristics in mind.

What you are describing is a synthetic brush that behaves more like a brush with natural fibers. That would indicate a big step forward in the technology. I wonder if the large 30mm knot accounts for any of that.

Gary/"brothers" has more experience with synthetic brushes than I do. It would be nice if he found this thread and responded.

Murray, the reason I bought this brush is because it is similar to my Chubby 3, super badger, 2 band brush. I shaved with it this morning and I would say it held more water than the Chubby, I shook it out 8 times and whipped up a large volume of lather. It is a stiff brush and does not splay easily so I pushed it hard against my chin to splay it. Then I just brushed on lots of rich lather and got a great shave! If you like a stiff brush with a scrubby effect, you will like this brush. The 30mm size is a plus in my opinion.
