Schick Injector on eBay

Post by rsp1202 »

A rare Schick N3 injector is currently up for sale (search "Schick injector"). Ridiculously pricey, but if anyone has the moolah, consider grabbing it. I would if I could. <sigh>

And if I could, I'd also buy those @#$%&!! NOS Schick blades I said I wouldn't.

Yeah, Ron, that's a far cry from what I paid for mine. I won't tell you what it cost me for fear you may slice your wrists..... Come to think of it, my son "borrowed" mine over a year ago because he thought it looked 8) He was going to end up with it one day anyway, he just got it sooner than either of us expected.
Maybe he'll let me visit it once in a while.

It took me a while, but I found it. Some Japanese printed on the package. I bought a similar one in the 1990's at K-Mart for a few dollars.

This one is interesting, too:

Different adjustment dial - it looks like it was taken from a gas range.

That adjustable is a prototype, I believe. Notice it is from CT, near the home of Schick. A year or two ago, there was a similar one sold by someone who apparently worked for Schick (also from CT).

I believe if you look at the patent for the adjustable Schick, it has this type of dial. Overall, I have seen 4-5 of these pop up on ebay.....

Yes. It's a prototype as I understand. I have one as well shown below.

Yeah, it's a Schick L-type with Gaffers & Sattler mod.

Paul, that N3 package was targeted for the Asian markets, I guess like the Type O. I've only seen one free-standing N3 for sale here in the last three years, and chances are it was split off from the set.

David, I'm way past the vein-opening stage on anything shave-related I see -- though I do sigh a lot, these days.

It's so easy to get an I, J, or L that I'm not sweating the N or O.

Pauldog, I thought you already had a Type O.  I keep acquiring a complete injector collection and then selling it off. This cycle keeps repeating itself over and over. However, I agree, there are some models that are some what rare, making them not really worth the asking prices. The type O is one of them. If you look at the design of the head the type N has the same head as the type O, so you could get one of those since they go for a lot less.

If I was looking for an injector these days, I would concentrate on getting the N2, since it's a bit simpler in design than the -1 or -3, and really, what more do you need? I think the N1, with its chrome trim, is microscopically heavier than the -2, and I've never, ever nicked myself with the thing; the N3 is heavier and longer still. The -1 is the easiest to find on eBay or in private sales (all relative; the N's are not as easy to find as the L's, etc.). The -2 shows up once in a while. It's what Gordon and Gene use, and, of course, David/desertbadger has one because he has everything. :)

I guess this is an inside joke. I bought at least two O's when you could get them by mail from Warner-Lambert-Pfizer before they sold Schick to Energizer. They came in plastic bags with a pack of blades, and cost well under $10. I don't think they were ever sold in American stores.

I was tempted to try one, but I didn't and sold them on eBay as new.

I bought a Shick injector a year ago and never found a reliable source for blades. The one's I see at ebay have so many guarantees that they are original old stock etc. that I am totally suspicious. Figured they were probably Chinese knock-offs. Anyone have a reliable source for good Genuine blades?

The Chinese Schick blades are actually quite good. They are my day to day go-to when I'm using an injector.

I agree, the Chinese Schick’s are actually very good blades and they're the best of what's currently available, IMO. Not quite the blade that the original Schick Platinum’s are, but still a good, decent, blade.

While the Chinese Schicks are quite good, nothing holds a candle to Personna 74 Tungsten Steel blades. I have a really tough beard, but I also have sensitive skin, and I can feel the difference with the Personna 74s. Such a shame they are no longer being made.

Very true, themba, that's why I'm glad I stocked up on the 74's both in DE and SE when I had the chance. Now, if they can be found, usually on ebay, the prices have gone through the roof.
