Are you trying the old Proraso (no lanolin) or the new reformulated one?
I find the new one to be as good as the UK shaving creams in terms of skin care protection and slickness of the lather.Am I a big fan of it? Not at all , but once in a while I like to use the new Proraso cream and soap.BTW , Bath and Body Works is selling the new C.O Bigelow shaving cream , which is the new reformulated Proraso one.

I agree with Teiste. The new Proraso is every bit as good if not better than the three T's in terms of efficacy/performance. My personal fav is the red/Sandalwood variant as I find it a bit more moisturizing than the other variants. Highly recommended.

Proraso = Good, no question about that, but as with everything in the shaving world YMMV.

Hi Gareth,

No...It's no just you. Proraso is underwhelming. Lathers up great, but a bit drying, sometimes irritating, not the slickest, and certainly not the closest. Compare Proraso to say its better cousin, Santa Maria Novella. I have both and they are NOT the same.

I would put Harris ahead of both any day of the week. There are not too many soaps that can moisturize the skin like Harris.

I picked up a serviceable user grade Fatboy and a mostly full pot of Proraso for twenty bucks a few weeks ago. I really enjoy that soap. My wife really enjoys it, too (she uses a Merkur 38C on her legs).

That menthol really lights up when you rinse your face with cold water after the shave. That'll wake you up in the morning.

So is the reformulated product worth a look over the older version that I have, do you think? I'm really not too happy with how mine is performing.

Gareth
Well , if you can find the old Proraso/Omega soap with lanolin , then you will have the old Santa Maria La Novella shaving cream , and theyre excellent ones.

The new reformulated Proraso is much better than the old version , both the"green" and "white" (sensitive skin).Another story is about its scent : I prefer any of the UK shaving cream scents over the Proraso green any day of the week.

Maybe I don't know what I'm saying, but I find the new versions of Proraso Green and White to be fantastic. Better lather with more skincare. :)

I have the Blue Proraso in the tube and I really like it. I confess I haven't used the green or red versions, but I'm sure my opportunity will come along.

Personally I've never been able to use any Proraso products. They simply don't react well with my skin.

No , it doesnt. Old versions used to have it , like the Omega soap/cream.

Ah -- I got all excited for nuthin' then.

MWF and DR Harris for me -- I still have some Proraso, but it only gets used seasonally. I find it good for really warm and humid weather in our Ottawa summers.

I have a tube from 2008 or so. I really like it (though obviously not enough to use up a tube in 5 years.) It lathers well using about a pea's worth of product and leaves my face smooth and minty cold (which I like).

Performance-wise it is as good as anything I have. But I get bored with it quickly.

Wendell, Well, there's always Musgo Real cream you know. It still contains lanolin as far as I know.

IIRC Proraso (in the form of CO Bigelow) was the first cream I used as DE shaver, about 4 years ago. I was immediately spoiled by its ease of use and was thus vastly surprised when a C&E puck didn't whip up mountains of lather with but a whisper from the brush.

I've used virtually all of the English, Italian and specialty creams over the years, pre EU and post with the reformulations.

With lanolin and w/o. Pre Taylor avocado and post. Pre Musgo and twice and thrice post Musgo.

As with any cream, blade, razor, aloe gel and after shave... YMMV.

For my money and comfort, the one go-to every time shave cream of mine is...

PRORASO!

I'm on my last tube and will buy the reformulated one via online ordering soon.

I thoroughly enjoy the shave and after effects of the shave using Proraso.

Close and comfortable.

Hey guys... nice of you to say hello. I see a number of the originals here. Inc Gordon. Very cool!

I recently introduced my nephew to the forum when I gave him a new long handled Mergress for his graduation from the University of Miami with honors in the computer engineering dept.

Alan... I believe will come here to learn more about the REAL art of wet shaving from the guys who live the experience every day.

Greetings once again from beautiful and unfortunately firery Colorado.
