Tallow English Fern-1st Shave

Post by Craig_From_Cincy »

I had my first shave with the vintage tallow Penhaligon's English Fern that I bought from Phil, and it was superb. The scent literally jumped out of the box when I opened it up. I found a good container for the soap, and rigged up a label for the lid from and old Pen's box that I had stowed away.

The soap lathered very easily with my Vulfix 2236S, which usually isn't my first choice for a soap brush. I was able to generate gobs of lather, more than enough for 3 passes plus touchup. I found that the soap was rather thirsty, not quite so much as, say, Mike's but it did need a fair bit of water to really blossom into superb lather.

The EF soap provided an excellent BBS shave that left my face feeling excellent. My only regret with buying this soap is that it's going to completely spoil me and make it almost impossible to back to any veggie based soap.
Cheers,

Craig

Craig,

Glad you like it and are getting great results. I might have gone for one but the price was a bit steep for me right now. Also like the mug and mug cover you rigged up for this great soap. All that coming from a guy from Cincy, never would have figured that! =D>

Great post Craig. I'm trying to win a puck of the Blenheim Bouquet from Phil this week.

And what's with all the Cincy hating around here? Love Cincy! Got any Skyline to share, maybe a Coney or two?

Yep, I happen to receive a puck of it through one of our British members who was kind enough to pick one up for me. It is indeed superb and one of the few soaps that deserves all the hype.
