Buying Blades Locally

Post by Ike »

Is there a decent blade I can go get at a Walgreens or CVS?

Thanks

Ike,

Where are you? Since you mentioned Walgreens and CVS, I'll assume there is a Wal Mart within a reasonable distance. You'll get the same blades at all three stores, but they are much cheaper at Wal Mart.

I use unlabeled Personna's as my daily shaver.

I honestly didn't notice a huge difference between these and the Merkur's I bought. Definitely worth the purchase and available pretty much anywhere.

Prairie,

If you are using store brands, then Wal Mart is definitely the way to go. I was at Walgreens last week and they were on sale for $3.99 for 10, vs $1.36 for 10 at Wal Mart.

I'm in the New Orleans area. I have some other drug stores too that are not chains that I may check to see what they may have.

If I am reading it right the blades are made by Personna but sold as Walgreens or Wal-Mart brands?

Yep, I buy them at Wal-Mart (actually K-Mart this week as they were having a sale on them).

I went to a local drug store and bought some Wilkinson Sword Classic blades today. That is all they had.

Should i even try these or should I go to a regular chain store and get the Personna blades?

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken the Wilkinson are better than Personna?

I just picked up 3 packages of Personnas at Wally World today. $1.36 for 10 blades. Made in the USA.

The wilkinson blades I bought are made in Germany. They were $1.29 for a 5 pack.

BTW how do you get the blade out of the plastic pack?

Push on the blade and slide it out of the end with the slot. (Do the same thing with the cardboard that's on top of the blades.)

Thanks. I figured it out. I was a little nervous to push too hard at first.
