Introducing my son to a proper shave (colognes & aftershaves)

Post by nodaktim »

Recently, as some of you already know, I found my box of shaving gear that was placed in storage by SWMBO a few years ago when I went OTR driving for work.

The box included a collection of samples for Penhaligon's EDTs, colognes etc. (14 from the scent library) that I mentioned years ago. They intrigued my son and now he is showing an interest in finding a cologne and aftershave for himself.

He tried the samples and leans toward the woodsy varieties and likes sandalwood and cedar from other items he has tried such as bath soaps and such.
We looked up top, base and heart notes for the samples and had a good time just discussing them. He is interested in checking out samples from other companies such as DRH. I guess it is difficult getting alcohol based items such as colognes shipped to the USA from the UK or Europe.

Does anyone know of a supplier that will ship samples to here?

He asked about DRH, TOBS, Trumper and T&H for starters.

He currently uses Proraso (green) After Shave Balm with Menthol and Eucalyptus Oil and sometimes the Proraso (green) After Shave Lotion (splash) version.

Seeing as he is interested in sandalwood, what about the Proaso Sandalwood balm or DRH Sandalwod milk?

Thoughts?

Taylor's (woody) or Trumper's (sweet) sandalwood are excellent. Both say they ship to the USA. Also, Taylor's products are sold by fendrihan.com so you can buy without international shipping. I see they have the sandalwood in stock only in alcohol-free form, while the traditional stuff is currently sold out.
