My dear wife and I saw the same blurb this morning. She turned to me, a smart-aleck quip about to pass her lips. I certainly must have a strange look on my face, because (for once) she held her tongue. Come to think of it, that shocked me more than Mr. "I'm going for a year on my disposable raz...

I *wanted* pre-shaves to work magic, but I've finally come to the conclusion that they don't make any difference for me. This comes after trying almost every potion out there. Now since I've got a shelf full of pre-shaves, I still feel obligated to try one now and again. Both the Musgo and T&H h...

Tim -- You're outta luck with WalMart, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid in this part of Colorado. Even in Denver, the best you can hope to find around here (if you're really, really lucky) is some Williams soap and $5 boar bristle brush at Walmart, and sometimes some Pinaud products at Walgreens. Even so, it...

The buyer's extensive Ebay history (ok, all three bids) tell me either this guy is a shill for different razor sellers, or else his desire for vintage DE razors far exceeds his common sense. Take a look for youself; he just paid $160 for a gold Fatboy, and $76 for an Adjustable. He should've looked ...

This is one of my least favorite AC hair products. When I let my hair grow out from a very short Ivy League cut to a longer version of a businessman's cut (approx. 2.5" on the sides and about 5" on top) my thick but fine hair just drooped instead of staying combed back. The fiber IS hard t...

I posted my dislike of this under-performing, below-mediocre cream sometime back; this is one of the few personal care products I'd ever actually attempted to return.

Too bad it's such a miserable cream as I love and use AC hair products almost exclusively.

I was happy to find Palmolive Classic cream at Superlather.com in November. On opening the tube, the faint green color and scent took me back to the early '60s and my dad's morning shaving ritual. After a great shave with the Palmolive -- nicely conditioned skin and nary a nick -- I smugly placed th...

The absolute best t-shirt I've found at ANY price is from Land's End. It's their "Performance Super T" and at $12.50 is amazing. They even have sewn side seams like a real shirt. I wear the heather gray ones under my scrubs and for layering in the winter. Comfy, soft and incredibly durable...

You have been prescribed the proper antibiotics for "barber's rash", but usually only after trying a topical treatment. A 2% mupirocin x3/day is the accepted first line treatment, along with chlorhexidine for cleaning the skin. And of course, the already offered advice of not shaving is sp...

This is still a hotly debated topic on some boards. (Is that sad, or what?)

Most rings are worn with the emblem out. Masonic rings are worn both ways, for equally meaningful reasons.

I loved Tang as a kid, but only because the Gemini astronauts drank it. It really wasn't that great, but my only comparison at the time was orange Kool-Aid.

Did anyone else's grandmother make the (in)famous spiced tea with Tang, instant tea mix, cinnamon, and cloves?

Yep, it is brushless. Still, my experience is that brushless creams still perform better after being whipped with a good brush. This one was just and under-performer for me.

When I first returned to wetshaving, I'd find myself doing a 5th, 6th and even a 7th pass to tame the steel wool hair on my chin, and then sometimes smoothing that out with the electric afterwards. I'm certain my chin glowed red for months and months. There is so much good advice here, and I endorse...

Ron, I had the same experience with the cream last year. According to the shave diary I no longer keep, I used two large snurdles, more water than I'd ever used with anything else, and enough wrist action to whip up a cake batter before getting an acceptable lather. The shave was fairly mediocre. Tr...

My sweetie brought home a tube of Zihr for me on impulse (possibly to distract me from the amount she'd just blown at Ulta).

It's... ok. OK scent, lathers fine, mediocre shave. It actually reminds me of the tube of Derby cream I got free with my 200 blade purchase.
